Last night I watched "Julia and Julie" again and realized that I would love to blog about my favorite things, too! I enjoy Wisdom, travel, great food, family and friends, good books and life! And the fun thing about this blog will be that I can write and write and talk and talk, and I can enjoy myself and learn and share inspiration, and those who have eyes to see and the desire to know will read it, etc!! Therefore, I welcome you to my ramblings and musings!
Julia Childs definitely followed her bliss and look where it led her! I used to enjoy cooking and entertaining, and then that energy waned, however I do love to eat wonderful food every where I visit and occasionally will cook something fabulous. In June several friends had a pre-wedding party, and I was asked to fix finger food type desserts, so the three I chose were Peanut Butter and Fudge Brownies with Salted Peanuts from epicurious.com that are dark chocolate brownies with chopped salted peanuts, a peanut butter icing, and chocolate ganache on top; Butterscotch Blondies from THE FOSTER'S MARKET COOKBOOK; and Margarita Bars adapted from Mermaid Sweets blog and from the recipe for Lemon Bars in THE FOSTER'S MARKET COOKBOOK.
All three were scrumptuous, and I made sample batches first to make sure I liked them all. Oh, my, I almost overdosed on sugar, which is no longer a staple in my diet. The crowd favorite was the brownies!
Flying home from CA in late June I was reading OPRAH magazine and found several recipes for different types of hummus. I made the Guacamole Hummus and the Artichoke Hummus recipes and can heartily recommend them! And they took no time to make! And hummus is healthy, right!!
Yesterday I returned a great read to the library - THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK by Geraldine Brooks, who won the Pulitzer Prize for MARCH, which I have not read. I have also recently bought THE UNTETHERED SOUL by Michael Singer which comes as a recommendation from two friends.
Have you been to see REJOICE AND SHOUT about the history of Gospel Music?? Go!!
So I will leave you with this last thought that I received from Renaissance Unity yesterday in their daily inspiration:
"I have learned that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."
Henry David Thoreau
Blessings until we meet again!
